The IsItPatented Editorial Team
We’re the engineers and IP researchers who write, fact-check, and maintain every guide on IsItPatented.ai.
What we do
Every article on IsItPatented.ai is researched against the public USPTO record. We verify patent numbers, grant dates, assignees, and claim language directly from Google Patents and the official USPTO PAIR system before publication. When a fact changes — a patent expires, a company is acquired, an application transitions to a grant — we update the affected page and revise the “Last updated” timestamp.
Our background
The team combines software engineering experience (the AI scanner itself) with applied patent research — including filing experience, prior-art search work, and product-side experience navigating the USPTO process for real inventions. We are not registered patent attorneys, and nothing we publish is legal advice. For a binding patentability opinion, engage a registered USPTO practitioner.
Areas we cover
- USPTO filing process — provisional, non-provisional utility, design, plant
- Patent strategy for software, hardware, and consumer products
- Cost breakdowns by entity size (micro, small, large)
- Prior-art search methodology and its limitations
- Famous, weird, and historically significant patents — fully sourced
- Product-by-product patent lookups for trending consumer goods
